SCRABBLE

Come along to your local library and play Scrabble.
We have regular Scrabble games being played at some of the Berrigan Shire Libraries.

Berrigan holds their games every Tuesday morning commencing at 9.30am.

Finley Library has also started Scrabble sessions.

New players are welcome.

These are very relaxed games and you don't need to be an expert.

Using your brain and chatting to new and old friends is a wonderful way to pass a morning so come along and try it!

Summer Reading Program Winners

Once again our libraries ran the "Summer Reading Program" in January.

The theme this year was Get in the Game. Many children enjoyed attending the library during the summer holidays and kept a record of the books they read. All participants in the program received stickers, tatoos and wristbands.

The Berrigan Bakehouse vouchers were appreciated by two lucky Summer readers at the Berrigan Library.

Games were played in the library. The Berrigan Library found 'Trouble' and Chess the most popular board games but the PS3 and computer games won the day!

The children of Berrigan run from school to play on our PS3. It is amazing to listen to the co-operation and sharing skills the boys are cultivating. They all take turns and are a pleasure to have visiting our library.
This year we are lucky to have the Grade 1/2 class from Berrigan Public School visiting our library. You can see the wonderful whales they made hanging from the net in the background of this photo. The seaside theme continues and last week they added delightful starfish to the net. This weeks' surfboards were fantastic creations of colour and art.

Library Lovers Day

Library Lovers Day otherwise known as St Valentines day, fell on a Saturday this year and our libraries decided to celebrate! We had mystery loans (Wrapped books complete with red ribbons) that we hoped you would love & maybe find a new author or a new genre to enjoy. We gave away chocolates and lollies and the mood was generally festive. The Berrigan Library gave out all their mystery books and have been amused to find that the loans were often books the borrowers normally read. We might have to be a bit more diverse in selection next year but overall the event was a success and mystery loans were good fun.

Can't find a book to read?

• Come in and browse our New Releases displays. They have all the items recently added to our collection.
• Try the Returns trolley. These are books that have just been read by others and might suit you too.
• Talk to other borrowers in the library. You might have similar tastes.
• Try the book of the day.
• Select from the tops and ends of shelves. These items are out on display because they may interest you.
• Think of authors you like and use our GUIDE TO AUTHORS poster to tell you who writes like this....
• Use our genre labels to help direct you toward your favourite type of book.
• Hop on a computer and search your favorite authors or reading guides on websites like http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/ or http://www.librarything.com/
• Dont forget to ask our friendly staff for ideas.

What's on at Berrigan Library.....

Thursday 21st November - 10am STORYTiMe @ your Library This week the theme will be "A Teddy Bear's Picnic". Come along with your little one and join in the fun. Children bring your teddies please.

2pm- St Columbus K-2 visit for a story reading and to borrow books.

Tuesday 25th November- 10am PLAYGROUP storytime "Christmas theme"

Wednesday 20th November- 11am STORYTiMe @ your Library. The theme will be Australian animals and the children will enjoy the fun craft activity.
